On the morning after the first night I was on graveyard shift, my body was pretty cooperative and helped me last through the night. Even after 4 cups of coffee, the 12 midnight-to 8 am shift was a lil’ too much for me to take. But thanks to the caffeine, I was wide awake and made two great friends.I remember Cynthia asking me if I had plans that morning, since Sabrina had matters to take care of with Starhub, Macau’s telecom company. I said none so far, so we had a hearty breakfast at the hotel’s dining room and took a cab to Starhub. Little did we know that we were an hour early (office opens at 10:00 AM) and decided to play the slot machine.
On our field trip and "orientation", the new hosts went to Venetian and was given a membership with 100 HKD load to play at the slot machines with. (50.oo Patacas for Venetian and 50.00 Patacas for Sands) Priceless education we had here folks! So there we were, I think Cynthia made some money and when it was time, proceeded to Starhub.
After what felt like forever, we went to San Malo and had a drink at Mcdonalds. (Aircon!!!) I remember buying a pair of ugliest shoes in the world and a keychain. And that was the start of a series of beautiful friendship.
They’re still both in Macau now, but we’re still in touch. Such random things with random people on a random day. And I hope in 50 years, I can still remember that random day, when we did random things on a beautiful Monday morning.
